Description

Summary: Performs track inspections as directed, perform oversight and supervision of track renewals, track construction, and track maintenance. Supervises workers engaged in routine track maintenance, new track construction, track inspection, track clean-up and repair by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates performing the following duties. He/she will be required to hold themselves to the highest standard, ethically morally and professionally in both business and personal life. He/she will be required to reflect the company’s business culture.

Typical Duties:

Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:

  • Examines and inspects repaired track and or new track to determine if specifications are met.
  • Creates track inspection, new track and/or routine maintenance schedules; estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Create reports, work scopes, of track defect findings.
  • May be asked to attend meetings and schedule work activities
  • May be required to enter data into customers’ maintenance tracking systems or the like.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Examines and inspects repaired track and or new track to determine if specifications are met.
  • Creates track inspection, new track and/or routine maintenance schedules.
  • Assures conduct of weekly Safety Meetings.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Provide training in areas of Safety and track maintenance/construction.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Balance inspection schedule with other work duties.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees during track inspection, routine track maintenance, track repair and clean-up, and or new track construction. He/she will be held accountable for personal productivity and the productivity of subordinates. He/she will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.

Skills and Special Requirements:

  • Knowledge and skills in applying FRA regulations, guidelines and rules.
  • Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, procedure and safety manuals, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information.
  • Ability of effectively communicate instructions, direction, processes, procedures and safety rules and regulation to co-workers and others in written, oral or schedule form.
  • Ability to talk and effectively communicate with co-workers, yard personnel, switching crew, engineers, railroad officials, and others in a clear concise, courteous, efficient and professional manner.
  • Ability to pass training and required testing.
  • Ability to think and act quickly in responding to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a meeting and or job site setting.
  • Functional in Microsoft Excel.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s driver license and have the willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment. Must possess Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by TGS at all TGS locations.
