Description

Job Summary : Will work under the guidance and direct supervision of the Terminal Manager and or the Terminal Operations Assistant Manager. Will be required to perform daily routine preventative maintenance as directed and required for the terminal. Will be required to enter maintenance work orders for any equipment found to be deficient that can be repaired by the owner of the deficient equipment. Must be educated on all company safety and operational policies and procedures and will be required to uphold and enforce these policies and procedures at all times.

Reports to: Terminal Manager directly. Terminal Assistant Operations Manager indirectly.

This position requires that the employee has met the following criteria to hold the position of Maintenance Technician:

  • Fully understands all company safety and operational policies and procedures.
  • Upholds and enforces all company safety and operational policies and procedures.
  • Is knowledgeable in trouble shooting and making necessary repairs of essential TGS owned equipment utilized by terminal operations group.
  • Fully understands terminal functionality and has the ability to trouble shoot equipment and infrastructure within the terminal and enter request for maintenance work orders to see that equipment is repaired in a timely manner by the owner of that equipment or by the TGS Maintenance Technician if requested by the owner.
  • Remains compliant with all required training classes and any courses deemed necessary by management.
  • Displays interest in terminals operations. Display self-motivation, initiative and is a self starter.

Maintenance Technician Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily routine preventative maintenance as directed by the Terminal Manager which includes; but not limited to:
    • Inspect and maintain all of TGS owned and operated vehicles and equipment and any customer owned and operated equipment as directed by management.
    • Perform routine Inspections of compressors, drain valves, eye wash and safety showers, lighting, tank car gangways, product, steam and steam condensate hoses, and perform other routine maintenance as required.
    • Visually inspect pumps, motors, valves and instrumentation systems and perform routine preventative maintenance as required.
    • Perform site OVA (oral, visual and audio) inspections as required and document all findings.
    • Log all necessary documentation and records into computer program if applicable.
  • Fully participate in lock out / tag out procedures of equipment requiring repair or for others who have to perform repairs as needed.
  • Assist Operations in correcting any unforeseen maintenance issues that may arise during the course of an operation to reduce excessive downtime and keep the operation safe and efficient.
  • Assist as directed by Terminal Manager to complete contracted task and projects to ensure they are carried out safely, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Complete new P.M task as they arise to keep up with any necessary terminal growth and expansion.
  • Consistently displays lead by example and leadership qualities at all times.
  • Attend all necessary meeting as dictated by management.
  • Complete necessary P.M. work orders to ensure they are completed properly and are accurate.

Physical Demands – Work Environment

  • Capable of climbing various heights of stairs and ladders, routine walking on uneven or moving surfaces, kneeling, bending, squatting and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and climate without issue.
  • Must be able to work 8 hour days (nights, weekends and holidays in emergency situations if they arise).
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required to meet deadlines.
  • Must be available to communicate with the terminal when not on site when issues arise.
  • Must be able to multi task and work under stress at times with no issues to meet customer demands.

Education – Skills – Special Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years terminal maintenance or industry related experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Must understand schematics and have a working knowledge of equipment repair.
  • Computer literate with Word, Excel and e-mail skills.
  • Is experienced with all hand tools and specialty tools and their applications needed to perform daily terminal routine task.
  • Understands basic terminal operations.
  • Basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and social security card.
  • Valid TWIC if applicable to the specific site.
