Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Interprets safety rules, regulations, and procedures for management and employees;
- Assists with the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of safety programs;
- Conduct safety audits and monitoring
- Administers safety training programs, including new hire, general safety, CPR/1st Aid, hazardous materials, defensive driving and OSHA regulated training;
- Investigate accidents and near-misses to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety programs;
- Company liaison with customers on safety-related matters including safety meetings, pre-job safety walk through and on-site safety evaluations and inspections;
- Travel to field locations and monitor safety of employees and equipment. Make recommendations related to findings;

- Strong leadership & communication skills including the ability to work with vendors, customers and employees;
- Principles of accident prevention, loss control and risk identification to safety programs;
- This position requires an individual who is self-motivated with the ability to motivate others;
- Ability to demonstrate use of safety equipment and qualify employee use;
- Observe, monitor, and analyze existing operating or safety procedures to determine compliance to standards;
- Able to recognize and respond to safety emergencies, on an on-call, as needed basis, to the Cedar Port location.

Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years previous Safety experience preferable in Rail Services or Rail Operations
- Must have 2+ years of Railroad Switching experience
- Must be authorized to work within the United States;
- Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
- Current safety certification from a recognized certifying body, such as CSST, or minimum eligibility requirements met.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting or moving of materials up to 50 lbs.;
- Ability to work in environmental extremes such as heat, cold, air pollution, dust, rain, etc.;
- The ability to crouch, kneel, balance, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, climb, twist, squat, sit and stand;
- Physically submit to periodic drug, background and clearance screenings (employment is contingent upon favorable results).
- Shift: 5:30 pm- 4am or 5:30 am -4 pm; 5/week, Monday-Sunday
