Description
Summary:   Works under direct supervision to perform transfers of hazardous and non-hazardous products in compliance with training provided in accordance with work instructions and government regulations (EPA, FRA and OSHA)
 
**Pre-employment hair follicle test will be required for all applicants.** 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Climb onto top and underneath railcars in order to inspect and seal railcars using a checklist
  • Inspect and seal trailers
  • Inspect equipment using checklists
  • Check fluid on equipment
  • Operate small tractors to move equipment
  • Operate golf cart / Kubota through facility when required
  • Perform Level 1 Maintenance on equipment (includes lubricating, replacing / tightening nuts and bolts and basic repairs)
  • Perform structural inspections
  • Perform mechanical inspections using checklists
  • Prepare products for transferring, such as heating, sparging and sampling
  • Perform all duties safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions
  • Participate in daily Safety / Quality talks
  • Report all incidents and near misses
  • Understand and comply with Shipper Confidentiality when discussing Shipper Accounts
  • Comply with cross training as required
  • Ask questions concerning product integrity, product shortages or equipment quality
  • Other duties as assigned by management supervision, or any designated employee.
Skills and Special Requirements:
  • Must have experience using hand tools
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction and multiplication)
  • Able to communicate and comprehend clearly, verbally and in writing, in English
  • Able to understand and comply with all requirements for any emergency
  • Able to take direction / supervision and work cooperatively with other people
Education and/or Experience:                                                 
 
High School diploma or equivalent
                             
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
 
TWIC must be obtainable with in 30days
Valid driver’s license
  
Physical Demands:
  • Able to climb up and down rail cars to a height of up to 20 feet
  • Must meet physical requirements, including, but not limited to:
    •    consistently lifting / carrying and pulling forces up to 60 pounds
    •    routinely gripping forces of up to 80 pounds
    •    routine walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending and squatting, climbing up / down ladders and stairs, standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
    •    Negotiating uneven and moving surfaces
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be capable of gripping forces of up to 80 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus 
Work Environment:
  • Will be required to work outside in all types of weather throughout the year
  • Will work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays (12 hour shift rotations); work schedule based on train arrival, generally with an 8 to 12 hour notice
  • Must be able to work extended hours and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Applicants subject to background check, drug screening and random drug screening
 Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills and abilities:
  • Experience operating mobile equipment (tractor, golf cart, John Deere tractor, hydraulic fork lift and pumps.
  • Experience performing Level One Maintenance on equipment (including changing starters, batteries, clutches) helpful
  • Hazmat and rail yard experience a plus
  • First Aid / CPR certification preferred
  • Current TWIC preferred
